STATUS: Complete.
PUBLICATIONS: [Conference Publication 3]
OUTCOME:
Data was analysed from 2005 to 2018.
Electric Vehicles (EV) for Bangladesh are Electric Three Wheelers (ETW's) which include Easy Bikes and Motorised Rickshaws. There are about 1 million Easy Bikes and aroun 240 thousand Motorised Rickshaws.
Each Easy Bike consumes 12 units of electricity each day. There charging 1 million Easy Bikes each day consumes about 7% of the total energy generation in Bangladesh.
The Daily Peak Generation Time has shifted from 7 pm in 2008 to 9 pm in 2018 which may be due to a large load at night - Easy Bike Charging.
As ETW's are increasing in number, the Grid infrastructure needs to be developed. A Smart Grid may provide a solution.
The chargers used to charge the Easy Bikes are cheap and poses threat to both the consumption f electricity and the power quality. A sophisticated and efficient charger needs to be developed.
The research was carried out in the 'Generation Side' only. The distribution side may add more insights but due to inaccessibility of 'Distribution Side' data, it was not possible to carry out thorough research.
STATUS: Complete.
OUTCOME:
Simulation was carried out in SIMULINK.
Study was carried out on 'Three Phase Chargers' which have added advantages over 'Single Phase Chargers' both economically and electrically.
The schematic diagram as shown here, consists of a SVM controlled rectifier and a Regulated Boost DC/DC converter.
Power Factor (PF) and Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) were also improved.
Differences between the designed charger and the conventional charger are shown in the table.
